Your Student Officers 20-21
We’re here to support anyone who is self-isolating, whether you’re in halls, private housing or living at home.
We know that this year hasn’t been the easiest for anyone, but especially students. You may have been affected by the A-Level results disaster, or you may have had to finish university early last year and get back home, or you or your family may have been affected by COVID-19 already.
As your Student Officer team, we want you to know that we’re here for you, supporting you and lobbying on behalf of you. We’re here to ensure that your needs are being heard in conversations and meetings at the highest level within LJMU, in the city and nationally with the Government through NUS. Since before students came back, we’ve been meeting with LJMU on a regular basis to ensure that they are supporting in your health, wellbeing and studies and the best source of information can be found here.
We are also reacting to the consequences of changes caused by COVID-19 and we are in the middle of rolling out new initiatives to help you. We have collated these pages on our website to keep you up to date on what we’re planning. Immediately is the need to support those in isolation with essentials and the University have already established support which can be accessed here.
Longer term is the need to support students who are isolating with food, home and personal essentials and things to keep households entertained and connect with those in a similar position. We are working with local companies and organisations to package these up and deliver them to you over the coming week. We are also creating physical and digital 'Isolation Entertainment Packs', so that you can continue to stay engaged and have fun with the people around you.
Some of it is a work in progress, but please bear with us and get in touch if you have any ideas of how we can better support you.
We also want to know what you’re thinking and how you’re feeling so that we know that we can be sure we’re talking to LJMU about the right things. There are a number of ways that you can contact us:
We are here to support you. If you feel that you’re being adversely affected in your studies by the ongoing pandemic, we’re here to help you get back on track. You can contact our Advice Service, or if it’s related to your wellbeing, the Student Wellbeing Team at LJMU are on hand.
In the meantime, please stay safe and know that you're not alone. Please follow your local guidance if you’re not self-isolating, or if you are, follow the self-isolating guidance in place to keep us all safe and well.
