Food & Supplies

If you are required to self-isolate for 14 days this means that you are not normally allowed to leave your house, flat or studio during this period. If you have symptoms of COVID-19 or a positive test, then you should avoid contact with other household members as much as possible.

Other members of your household, including those who do not have any symptoms, need to stay at home and not leave the house for 14 days. Do not go out even to buy food or other essentials, and any exercise should be taken within your home. This 14-day period starts from the day when the first person in your house became ill or if they do not have symptoms, from the day their test was taken.

Here at JMSU, we have secured some exclusive food delivery offers for students:

  • LIDS (Liverpool Independent Delivery Services) has brought together some of the biggest and best-loved traders in the city. Allowing you to buy from a range of retailers in one place, straight to your door. Their exclusive ‘Big Student Bundle’ has enough food for a week.
  • Domino’s is the staple food of student life. With exclusive offers that can feed the entire flat, or enough to feed you for a day or two, there’s something to suit every budget and taste (including new vegan pizza!).
  • Co-op has come together with TOTUM, the UK’s number one student discount card and app, to offer an exclusive student offer. Students can take advantage of their 99p delivery offer and receive their items within 2 hours. TOTUM is available on the Google Play Store and Apple App Store.
  • Micah Liverpool has created a Community Market at the Liverpool Cathedral to allow community access to food and household supplies at a hugely discounted price! The market is open to students and offers food and supplies for 20p, 50p and £1! The Micah Liverpool Community Market is open every Tuesday, Wednesday & Thursday 11:00-14:30 at the Liverpool Cathedral.

Here at JMSU, we also have a team of Quarantine Support Volunteers  who are they to support students with collecting ‘click and collect’ shopping or medical supplies from a Pharmacy. We also have a team of buddies that are there to help you settle into life at University and put you in touch with other students. They can both be contacted at jmsuvolunteering@ljmu.ac.uk.

You can also speak to LJMU Student Advice and Wellbeing if you require additional advice and support. If you have specific academic issues, you can contact the JMSU Advice Service, who can advise you on a wide range of university issues.

If you are in student accommodation you will be required to self-isolate, if you or another member of the flat (household) tests positive for COVID-19. Staff in your accommodation will be able to provide additional information on what that means - contact the Reception point.
