BAME Part-Time Officer

Gracious Muzamhindo

Since being at Liverpool John Moores University for 2 years I have actively tried to engage myself and other BAME students to be proactive in their communities. I was on the committee of the Afro Caribbean Society in 19/20, with the aim to have career events and mental health focus groups and overall have conversations that are not prevalent in the black community. However, I believe I can help more people as BAME Part-Time Officer. Working with the previous BAME officer, I was able to explore my passion not only for equality but for equity and would be proud to continue the amazing work she started.

My aims as BAME Part-Time Officer are:

  • Work with the student union to build a strong relationship between the university and BAME students.

  • Have a weekly podcast where students will rotate talking about their experiences to remind people they are not alone.

  • Have career events to encourage students to go into careers where they might be a minority and have BAME LJMU alumni inspire students.

  • Continue the BAME Student Network and create a comfortable and safe environment.

As BAME Part-Time Officer I chair the BAME Student Network, for more information about the network or to join please click here
