Sustainability

In 2020 we declared a Climate Emergency, a statement organisations make to acknowledge that urgent action needs to be taken to protect our environment. We have developed a Sustainability Action Plan in consultation with students, which details exactly how we are going to take climate action over the next 3 years.

Since then, we have recruited our wonderful Sustainability Champions, who are a team of passionate student volunteers who feedback on eco-issues and form their own campaigns to make LJMU greener. We hold regular focus groups to ensure our work remains relevant to current students, as well as our annual Sustainability Week full of events, talks and workshops.

We have developed a Sustainability Action Plan in consultation with students, which details exactly how we are going to take climate action over the next 3 years. We have also signed up to Green Impact SUs, which provides an extensive framework of how we can be a more environmentally friendly organisation.

In 2021 we got a funding bid approved by Liverpool City Region's Community Environment Fund, which has allowed us to start The Growing Project. These community gardens are open for anyone to enjoy, grow food, get involved, and learn new skills!

If you would like to get involved, please get in touch and we’ll be happy to help.
