National Student Survey results are in - and they're worth celebrating! π
The results of this year's National Student Survey (NSS) are here, and we're delighted to share some fantastic news.
Final year students across institutions are invited to complete the survey and provide feedback about their course at university to determine student satisfaction, the student experience, teaching and learning, support services, learning resources and more. The results are used to drive further improvements to the student experience. The NSS gathers results from all universities across the UK and it plays an integral part in establishing the experience at each university and is a direct reflection of the importance of student feedback.
Based on student feedback, JMSU is ranked in the top 15 SUs across the country, and one of the top SUs in the Northwest for student academic interests and representation.
Answering the question βHow well does the students' union (association or guild) represent students' academic interests?β this year, JMSU scored 82.6%, up from 79.5% in 2025 placing us 4.4 points above the sector benchmark.
The University also showed positive results, improving in six of the seven themes in the survey and was equal to last yearβs result in the other. The university was also above the sector average in six out of the seven themes and matching the higher education average in the other. We are so pleased to see students have utilised our services, feel represented and that their voices are heard.
We have worked hard over the years to be better at understanding our students, engaging with students and student leaders and advocating on the back of their experience to those that can make a difference. We will continue to work hard and ensure student experience is at the core of our efforts.
On behalf of everyone at JMSU, a huge thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the NSS. Every response helps shape the future for current and future students.
Your voice matters. Thanks for making it heard. π
