In December 2022, LJMU launched a Cost of living hub to highlight all the University support available to students during these challenging times.

We have been working closely with the University to mitigate the impact on students as much as possible, and whilst we think the good progress has been made, we know there are some gaps in support and that there is more work to do.

So, over the next term, we will be focussing our efforts on reducing bus travel costs and creating a cosy campus. Here’s what we are working on in more detail:

Put money in student pockets - Transport

•            JMSU will draft an impact report on the cost of travel with recommendations to LJMU. *Please note in the interim of the report we recommend if you are struggling with the cost of travel to use the LJMU Hardship Fund.

•            Introduce bike loan scheme for students.

Create a home from home.

•            JMSU will provide useful freebies for students on all campuses e.g. hot water bottles, cosy socks, and phone chargers.

We will keep you up to date with our progress. In the meantime, if you would like to support our Cost of Living work and/or share your feedback on how the Cost of Living is impacting you, please email us or reach out to us on social media.

We will continue in our fight to get you the help and support you need and deserve.

In solidarity,

Marie, Clodagh, Gaby and Shaquita.
