School Representatives are lead academic student representatives at LJMU, bringing together feedback from Course Representatives and students to identify themes, influence change, support academic quality, and champion an inclusive student experience.
You will work alongside VP Education, Teaching and Learning Academy staff, Faculty Education & Student Experience Committee members, JMSU staff, and course reps to collect feedback from a diverse range of students and make a real difference to academic life at LJMU.
The role pays £14.79 per hour (honoraria) for up to 20 hours per term.

Any LJMU student is eligible to apply. It is desirable but not essential that you have been a course representative or student leader at an educational institution previously. There are a limited number of positions available and interviews will take place in July and August.

The role spans the full academic year with a range of structured activities and flexible engagement opportunities. Here is what you can expect to be involved in.
Join JMSU and the Teaching and Learning Academy in August or September with your fellow school reps. Meet key stakeholders, learn about your role, and have a professional photo taken for the JMSU website.
Help train and prepare new and returning course reps from September to November, with optional hours for new cohorts in January and February. You will attend a Train the Trainer session over the summer to prepare you.
Attend the pre-FESEC (Faculty Education Student Experience Committee) from September to June. You will sit with Associate Deans and officers, feeding back on key topics and themes from across your school. Usually bi-monthly (monthly for Business School).
Collaborate with fellow students during term time to co-create intervention strategies and shape action plans across LJMU. Help facilitate sessions with course reps. Dates to be confirmed.
Champion student feedback mechanisms, join the Student Advisory Group, and help drive engagement with key surveys such as the National Student Survey and First Year Student Experience survey. Dates to be confirmed.
Regular catch-ups with VP Education and the Academic Communities and Representation Coordinator from September to June. You will also meet once per term with your school's Associate Dean alongside JMSU staff and officers.
Share your perspective as a student and leader at topical sessions throughout both terms. These sessions help inform JMSU and the university, steering meaningful work and change.
Speak to course reps and students across your school and get involved in events and engagement activity — pop-ups, social media, or your own creative ideas — while collecting insight for your role.
Lead the SEAs by shortlisting nominees, deciding winners, and presenting at the awards ceremony in May. Up to 10 hours, April to June.
