Last week brought the annual NUS National Conference. Our delegates joined over 600 other students from across the UK and took part in a series of debates, workshops and discussions that will impact our activities and campaigns for the next academic year. It was a jam packed conference with many insightful campaign ideas and important policies.

Vice President Community and Wellbeing Alexandria told us "It was great to see how vital it is to work together to create positive and impactful change for students. I look forward to discussing some exciting ideas that we can work on as a student union".

It was a long yet rewarding four days for our delegates, with lots of students speaking passionately on a variety of topics that impact their studies and student experience. Our team have once again done us proud by being amazing ambassadors for JMSU and fighting for what matters most to their peers.

President Jasmine and Delegate Marie presented JMSU's decolonise the curriculum policy. Jasmine explained that the policy "seemed very well received as we discussed how the curriculum needs to be improved... we need to learn about subjects from the perspective of ethnic minorities" and other minorities groups to make learning accurate and representative of our society.

Vice President Education Shaquita has developed and continued to highlight the Decolonising the Curriculum Pledge between JMSU and LJMU over the last two years, so these efforts our officers have taken will take us one step closer to a more diverse and representative teaching for students past, present and future.

With voting now open for policies, the wait begins to see if our Decolonising the Curriculum policy will pass 🤞
