As another academic year comes to a close, we want to say a heartfelt thank you to your JMSU Officer Team 2025/26.
Miles, Etienne, Erin and Josh have each worked tirelessly to support, represent and enhance the student experience at LJMU. Together, they have championed student voices, delivered meaningful change and made a lasting impact across the University and wider community.

Team Achievements 🌟
📢 Attended recruitment events throughout the year to promote JMSU and engage with prospective students.
🤝 Increased LJMU staff awareness and understanding of JMSU through regular engagement and collaboration.
🏠 Provided student insight into the Renters' Rights Act and supported communications to students across the city.
🏗️ Contributed to discussions around the redesign and development of JMSU spaces across campus.
🫶 Created and delivered the "Look After Your Mate" training programme at the start of the academic year.
🎓 Collaborated with the University on assessments, Student Futures, library services, wellbeing support and a range of campus IT initiatives.
👨🦰 Enhanced the Movember campaign, helping students better understand its impact and importance.
Miles 👑 JMSU President
Miles, your dedication to representing students, improving campus facilities and championing sustainability has left a lasting mark on LJMU. Throughout the year, you worked tirelessly to ensure students' voices were heard and acted upon.
🚆 Co-developed and presented a proposal to the Combined Authority for a student transport ticket alongside Etienne.
🌱 Supported the University's Sustainability Week and wider sustainability initiatives.
🗣️ Represented the student voice at a range of University meetings, ensuring student perspectives were heard.
🤝 Delivered over 25 staff induction sessions to strengthen collaboration between JMSU and University colleagues.
💧 Successfully secured the installation of water fountains across City Campus buildings.
🥫 Coordinated the development of a proposal for a student essentials area, including a food pantry and clothes swap.
🏠 Supported awareness of the Renters' Rights Act through campus pop-ups and student communications.
🏡 Organised and delivered a housing fair, connecting students with private landlords and letting agencies.
☕ Supported the University's transition from Costa Coffee to Change Please on campus.
Etienne 🌸 VP Community & Wellbeing
Etienne, your passion for wellbeing, inclusion and student representation helped create a more supportive and accessible experience for students across LJMU and the wider city region.
♀️ Delivered a dedicated Women's Month in March in response to student feedback.
🧩 Secured funding from the Diversity & Inclusion Team and helped develop a sensory room at Byrom Street Campus.
🧘 Created "Mindful Mondays", a new wellbeing initiative offering monthly activities to support student mental health.
📖 Contributed to the development of the Disability Policy and Student Mental Health Charter alongside University teams.
🚶♀️ Planned and delivered the Reclaim the Night March with The Guild and Hope SU, championing safer streets for women and girls across Liverpool.
💬 Co-planned and presented JMSU Wellbeing Forums throughout the year in partnership with the LJMU Wellbeing Team.
🚍 Supported the development of a student transport ticket across Merseyside alongside fellow Sabbatical Officers from across the city.
🏛️ Represented JMSU and LJMU student feedback at the Student Strategic Board across the wider City Region.
Erin 📚 VP Eduction
Erin, your commitment to academic representation, student engagement and enhancing the learning experience delivered meaningful improvements for students across the University.
⏰ Introduced a trial extension of City Campus Library opening hours during the assessment period, increasing access from 8:45am-7:00pm to 8:45am-9:00pm.
🏗️ Worked with Course Representatives to help shape the redesign of the Mount Pleasant Library refurbishment planned for 2027.
🎓 Submitted a proposal to increase recognition and appreciation of academic societies.
🤖 Reviewed assessment and feedback policies to ensure AI supports student learning while strengthening academic regulations.
💻 Collaborated on the development of the Canvas AI Assistant, providing students with an additional study support tool.
🎤 Hosted a range of student engagement initiatives, including: Lunch and Listens, Student Equity Council, Profile PowerUp, and Student Experience Awards (SEAs)
📄 Submitted a proposal for an extracurricular transcript, enabling students to showcase achievements, skills and experiences in CVs and job applications.
Josh ⚽ VP Activities
Josh, your enthusiasm for student groups, volunteering opportunities and community building helped students get more involved, feel more connected and make the most of their university experience.
🤝 Held over 130 meetings with student groups, supporting sponsorship opportunities, charity events and mid-year check-ins.
🙌 Created more than 30 volunteering opportunities to strengthen student voice across executive committees, campaign teams and sports clubs.
🎥 Led conversations with staff and students, from the Vice-Chancellor to student leaders, to raise awareness of Movember through Instagram Reels and YouTube content.
🏅 Promoted 15 sports clubs through short-form social media content to increase visibility and engagement.
🌟 Delivered a dedicated Society Spotlight Week to celebrate student groups.
🐴 Secured a £1,000 grant to reduce barriers to participation within the Equestrian Club.
🏳️🌈 Delivered campaigns supporting Movember and LGBTQ+ inclusion across sports clubs and societies.
📸 Visited more than 15 sports clubs to create social media content, encouraging collaboration and participation across teams.
♀️ Supported the delivery of Women's Month in March, helping to celebrate and amplify women's voices across the student community.
