Boxing is a dynamic, full-body sport that combines physical power, mental discipline, and lightning-fast reflexes. It’s all about technique, endurance, and timing — whether you're throwing punches, ducking jabs, or working the pads, you’re constantly pushing your limits. With a strong focus on fitness and self-control, boxing offers a fantastic way to build strength and confidence.
Our Boxing group is open to everyone, from total beginners to seasoned fighters. You don’t need any experience to get started — just a willingness to learn and a desire to challenge yourself. We offer regular training sessions that cover everything from fundamentals to advanced skills, with the option to compete for those who want to take it further.
Step into the ring — it’s not just about fighting, it’s about finding your inner strength and being part of a supportive, driven community.

LJMU Boxing is focused on helping you improve your skills in boxing while building strong connections within the group. Training sessions develop the fundamentals of boxing and encourage a supportive environment where everyone can grow together. Whether you are a complete beginner or have plenty of experience, you are welcome to join the sessions. For those with more experience, there will be opportunities to compete in competitions throughout the year.
We train three times a week. On Tuesdays and Thursdays, sessions take place at Golden Gloves from 7 to 8 pm, and on Sundays, training is held at the Student Life Building from 7 to 8:30 pm. You only need to wear gym clothes and bring a water bottle to join. If you have boxing gear such as gloves, hand wraps, head guards, or a gum shield, you are encouraged to bring them along. Membership costs £45 a year, which covers all training sessions, and you just need to reserve your spot with a free ticket for each class. All the money goes back into the club to support its members.
Joining LJMU Boxing means becoming part of a welcoming community where you can learn boxing, make new friends, and enjoy being part of a team. The club trains at a well-known local gym with experienced coaches who are dedicated to helping you improve your skills. Whether you want to compete or just enjoy training, LJMU Boxing offers a great space to develop both as a boxer and as part of a group.
