“Whenever I felt stuck, or doubted that I would get through the work, they found a way to help me see the remaining tasks as goals I could achieve.” – Student Experience Awards nominator.

Over 200 people attended our Student Experience Awards last night, celebrating each other’s successes whilst recognising the importance of student experience here at LJMU. Students are at the heart of everything we do, and it was great to acknowledge those who apply this in their day-to-day careers.

We heard from senior leaders at the university, such as Pro-Vice Chancellor Phil Vickerman, Vice Chancellor Mark Power, and our four Student Officers, Marie, Gaby, Clodagh, and Shaquita, who championed this entire event.

Shaquita explained the reason behind the recent rebranding of our annual awards ceremony from Amazing Teaching Awards to Student Experience Awards: “This was done to encompass the hard work across all aspects of the University and the Students' Union.’

“From teaching staff to student representatives, professional services staff to interns – each person has contributed to the overall LJMU Student Experience. The new name is truly fit for purpose.”

Students shared heart-warming regards for those who have made their experience unforgettable at LJMU – one student told us their lecturer is “everybody’s number one fan and does everything in their power to give people confidence and next level support, whether that be hyping me up on LinkedIn or being there for a little chat when I need them most!”

Whilst staff and students alike are learning, listening, and developing during LJMU’s Students at the Heart Conference, we wanted to celebrate and thank those for their dedication to the student experience.
