#LJMUFreePeriod

Since December 2018, we have been fighting for menstruators to have access to free period products.

#LJMUFreePeriod was launched after a research project led by JMSU found that students were either not coming into university of leaving early to lack of access to products during their period. After discussions with LJMU’s leadership team it was agreed to fund the campus-wide trial, and menstrual products became available for free in every one of the 221 female and gender-neutral and accessible toilets across the LJMU campus. This campaign was the first comprehensive, unlinted scheme at a university in England.

Since the launch, #LJMUFreePeriod has continued to develop with events, workshops and further research. In 2020/21 JMSU launched Environmenstral, which aims to make this campaign more environmentally sustainable and kinder to our planet.
