About Us
Welcome to the Liverpool John Moores Musical Theatre Society (JMMTS)! We are an inclusive, arts-focused society open to everyone at LJMU, whether you’ve stepped on stage before or are completely new to the world of musical theatre. Our mission is to celebrate every aspect of musical theatre, from acting, singing, and dancing to behind-the-scenes creativity like production and set design. We believe musical theatre is for everyone—whether you love performing under the spotlight, enjoy belting out your favourite tunes, or prefer to sit back and appreciate the magic from the audience. Our society is a place to make friends, build confidence, and share your love of musicals in a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. Through rehearsals, workshops, social events, and screenings, we aim to foster creativity and community in equal measure.
Key Information
We hold rehearsals on a Wednesday 5pm-7pm. We have an optional dance session which is run by Rhiannon, our Dance Captain which starts at 4pm and runs until the start of the main rehearsal session at 5pm. We also will have an optional hour after the main session which will run from 7pm till 8pm where you can run any small groups, duos or solos. All of these sessions run in the Student Life Building and we will post the room in our groupchat prior to the rehearsal. These sessions will be varied and engaging, including singing, acting, and dancing designed to develop your skills and have fun. We also run musical screenings, and informal get-togethers, making sure there’s something for everyone to enjoy regardless of experience or interest. A variety of social events will be scheduled regularly, around once or twice a fortnight, allowing for even more opportunities to connect outside of regular sessions. We also do a showcase once a semester.

Committee
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
