If we could describe ourselves in three words, it would be “books and beverages” (the meaning
is left to your discretion).
We’re not just a one-genre society! Our members read a wide range - from romance to crime, horror to fantasy, and historical to dystopian fiction. “Between the Covers” Book Club is a great way to explore these different styles and have fun in-depth discussions with others.
We also like Wetherspoons! Our socials are not limited to hanging out in a library; we also collaborate with other societies and local venues.
All our socials are advertised on our WhatsApp group and Instagram page. Send us a message through @LJMUBookSociety25 (linked above) to be added and up to date with our latest, and discuss your recent read or recommendations.
We are a friendly society with many opportunities to make friends! For members new and old, we have planned start-of-year socials, including a chilled-out coffee meet-up on the 24th of September and an Angels-and-Demons-themed ice breaker social on the 27th of September.
We have other fun socials planned throughout the year, such as pub quizzes, Kahoot! nights, gay quarter pub crawls and more! We also plan to get involved with local charities, such as the Reader, with 24-hour read-a-thon and just-dance-a-thon fundraisers, and other in-person volunteering opportunities.
Each society is led by a student committee responsible for running the society, organising activities, and representing its members. The committee is chaired by the Society President, with support from other elected roles.
