Three female rugby players in teal and navy uniforms compete during a match. One player challenges an opponent for the ball, while another runs and a third stands nearby. Abstract black and white graphics in the background add energy and motion.

BUCS Emerging Club Leaders

Volunteer in Football. Lead the Game Off the Pitch.

Are you passionate about football, but not sure how your degree skills fit in? The BUCS Emerging Club Leaders programme gives our students the chance to volunteer in off-pitch roles at real football clubs across the country. You’ll build your CV, gain industry connections, and make a difference in your community club.

Josh Darley - VP of Sport

BUCS Emerging Club Leaders at Your SU

Opening doors into the sports industry — that’s my commitment to you.

Under the leadership of Josh Darley, VP of Sport, we are championing opportunities that help you take your skills off campus and into the heart of the sports industry.

Why You Should Get Involved

The BUCS Emerging Club Leaders programme is about more than volunteering. It’s about building your future. As a student, you’ll:

  • Apply your degree knowledge in real-world football club roles
  • Commit just 5 hours per week – with travel expenses covered
  • Gain access to 15+ CPD sessions led by industry experts
  • Network at iconic venues like Wembley and Old Trafford
  • Graduate with career-ready experience and strong references

Our Goal

We want every student to leave university with more than a degree — with the confidence, contacts, and experience to thrive in sport and beyond. Football needs fresh ideas, and this programme is your chance to step up and lead off the pitch.
