Today is Sexually Transmitted Infection (STIs) Awareness Day, it’s important to understand and have an awareness of STI’s as they can have an impact on your health and wellbeing.

Social stigma remains a barrier to STI testing and is associated with underutilisation of sexual health services. However, STI’s are nothing to be embarrassed or ashamed of, they are common and have nothing to do with your hygiene.

It’s recommended that you get tested for STIs at least once a year, or more frequently if you have multiple partners or have unprotected sex.

Remember, STIs are preventable and treatable. By practicing safe sex and getting tested regularly, you can protect yourself and your partner(s) from STIs and their complications.

JMSU provide access to free condoms behind our reception on the Upper Ground Floor of the Student Life Building,

You can also visit Brownlow Health’s stall at our Refreshers Fair at on 17th January in the LJMU Sports Hall, they will be giving out free condoms as well as providing information, and guidance on sexual health.
