Volunteer with JMSU! We offer a wide range of activities, services and support to help you get the most out of your time at University. This covers everything from the social side, to making sure everything's going right on your course, to the 100+ student groups we have on offer, giving you the opportunity to make change and much more.
Our volunteer roles support the work of the SU, helping with our sustainability goals, ensuring wellbeing of students, running events and campaigning alongside local communities.

We know that arriving in a new place and settling into university life can be a daunting experience. It can be tough to make friends and settle in, and sometimes it can help to speak to someone who has been through the same thing – that’s why we have JMSU Buddies! JMSU Buddies is a new volunteering scheme coordinated by your students’ union, providing a fun way to meet new people, make new friends and access JMSU activities and events. We match you with another LJMU student based on your preferences (such as hobbies, course, or country), so you and your buddy can have the best experience.
