WHAT DO WE DO?
Our team aim to improve people's knowledge of self-help when it comes to dealing with mental health. We all have mental health, it is something that can change and sometimes further support might be needed. The time it takes for people with mental health conditions to get help is far too long. We work on various levels trying to bring solutions to these issues. With our wide clinical base consisting of psychiatrists, psychologists, GPs and mental health nurses. We work to give people the tools to improve their mental health through workshops and ambassador programmes, we don't just go in, deliver a workshop and then leave. We educate, empower and propel change where many of the people we work with go onto implement mental health initiatives in their organisations.
We work to increase access to mental health-related careers. We work with Edge Hill University to encourage people to work in mental health fields. Their students complete 120hr or 48hr placements with us where they can learn about mental health and wellbeing, work with schools and community organisations and learn about pursuing a career in mental health. We are integrated into their curriculum and aim to provide a wonderful training package.
We also work with celebrities and influencers to help promote positive mental health online. They work with us to educate their followers on preventative strategies to improving mental health as well as where to go if further support is needed. Our founder was awarded the Diana Award - the highest accolade a young-person can achieve for humanitarian action as well as the Point of Light Award from the Prime Minister, Rt Hon. Boris Johnson in 2020.
As an Event Planning and Management Volunteer, you will engage in every phase of event development, from the initial concept to post-event analysis. Your responsibilities will include brainstorming innovative event ideas that align with our mission and appeal to our target audience. This could involve gigs with local musicians, art exhibitions, creative wellbeing workshops or any other ideas that are brought forward!
Experience is desired but not necessary, just initiative, enthusiasm and a passion for arts and culture! You will work as a team supported by the charity operations manager to plan and run some exciting and fun events.
You will collaborate closely with our team to establish event goals, determine budgets, and create detailed timelines to ensure every event aspect is meticulously planned and executed. Your role will involve liaising with a range of stakeholders, including venues, local creatives and volunteers, to coordinate logistics and ensure all components of the event come together seamlessly.
Promotion is a key element of successful event management. You will help devise and implement comprehensive marketing strategies to generate buzz and drive attendance. This will include creating engaging content for social media, crafting compelling email campaigns, and reaching out to local media outlets to maximise event visibility.
On the day of the event, you will aid set up, managing the event in real time, and ensure everything runs smoothly. You will also be responsible for troubleshooting any issues that arise, maintaining clear communication with all parties involved, and ensuring a positive experience for attendees.
Following the event, you will work with the team to gather feedback, analyze outcomes, and provide insights on what worked well and what could be improved. This reflective process is crucial for enhancing the effectiveness of our future events and ensuring we continue to meet the needs of our community.
Through this volunteer opportunity, you will play a vital role in advancing our mission, creating meaningful experiences for our supporters, and fostering a supportive environment for mental health awareness and advocacy. Your contributions will directly impact our ability to provide essential services and support to individuals facing mental health challenges.
