Islamophobia Awareness Month (IAM) is a national campaign dedicated to raising awareness about Islamophobia and challenging the discrimination faced by Muslim communities. JMSU is committed to making our campus a safe, inclusive space for everyone, and this campaign is a vital part of that mission.
Throughout the month, we’ll be hosting a range of events, including exhibitions, workshops, and student insight sessions aimed at highlighting the impacts of Islamophobia and exploring how we can combat it together.
This campaign isn’t just about raising awareness for one month; it’s about creating lasting change on campus and in the wider community. Let’s come together to challenge stereotypes, combat Islamophobia, and build a more inclusive environment for all.
We will continue to utilise feedback from our insight sessions with Muslim students to guide meaningful improvements in their experience on campus.
We will offer ongoing educational resources through a dedicated webpage, making it easy for students and staff to access information about Islamophobia and allyship.
By working closely with students and staff, we’ll ensure the recognition of key holidays and celebrations in the Islamic faith, embedding them into our calendar of events.
