Moving house?

Here at LiverpoolSU we want to ensure that both you and your property are safe over the Summer break. Here are some helpful hints:

  • Don’t leave ANY valuables in your home over the summer. Take them home or keep them in one of the many storage facilities across the city.
  • Ask your landlord when you can move things in to your new home. Some homes may be having work done over the summer so you may not be able to move in until September.
  • If you will not be living in your student property during the summer break check whether or not your landlord offers half rent (this can save you lots of money!)
  • Get insurance to protect your valuables from damage or theft. Endsleigh provides student specific insurance and you receive a discount if you have an NUS card!
  • Think about getting a plug-in timer for some lights in your home. Not only will it help save you money once you move in, but it will give potential thieves the idea that someone is home over the summer - even when there isn’t.
  • Let your new landlord know when you’ll be away over the Summer break so that they’re aware no-one will be in the property.
  • Ensure you leave your previous house as you found it. Take your rubbish with you and ensure you use Bulky Bob’s for any large items.
