NUS Conferences – You’re Invited

NUS are holding a range of conferences from the 10th February until the 29th May and would like to invite you. These conferences aim to discuss the lived experiences of all students, you will be able to have your views represented as you will debate, vote on motions and elect political leadership for each network for the year ahead.
 

Sections Conferences

NUS Sections Conference is the head policy making body of International, Post-grad, Mature and Part-time students. Delegates are elected from each local Students’ Union, that are affiliated members of NUS to represent students’ views on a National level.

International Student Section – 10th until 11th March 2016
In this conference you will be able to represent your voice and vote on motions that matter to you. You will also be given the opportunity to vote on political leadership for the year ahead, only those defined as part of the international students section may take part.

Postgraduate Student Section – 10th until 12th March 2016
The Postgraduate Student Conference is the policy-making body of the Postgraduate Student Section and you will be given the opportunity as a postgraduate to debate and vote on political leadership for the year ahead. You will make positive change to the section by voting and debating motions.

Mature Student Section – 12th March 2016
The Mature Student conference is the policy-making body of the Mature Student Section, in this conference you will be given the opportunity as a mature student to debate and vote on political leadership for the year ahead. This is an opportunity to make positive change to mature student experience.

Conference fees (excl. VAT):

  • International Student Delegate - £125
  • Postgraduate Student Delegate - £125
  • Mature and Part Time Student Delegate- £50
  • Observer at International Students Conference or Postgraduate Students Conference - £275
  • Observer at Mature and Part Time Students Conference - £100
  • Accommodation (bed and breakfast) the night before conference - £69
  • Coach from Milton Keynes station to/ from hotel- £3 per journey

 

NUS LGBT+ Students’ Conference – 15th until 17th March 2016

NUS LGBT Students' Conference aims to represent the LGBT+ Students in higher education, by attending this conference you will have your views heard through discussion and debates. You will also be able to vote on motions and elect the political leadership for the year ahead.

This is a unique opportunity to personally develop your communications skills by voicing your opinion and make crucial change for LGBT+ students.

Venue: Holiday Inn Royal Victoria, Victoria Station Rd, Sheffield, S4 7YE

Start date: Tuesday 15-03-2016 - 11:00

End date: Thursday 17-03-2016 - 16:30

Registration will close at 9am on the 1st of March or when the host venue reaches its capacity.

NUS Disabled Students’ Conference – 22nd March until 24th March 2016

NUS Disabled Students' Conference aims to bring together disabled students to take part in the policy-making body of the Disabled Students’ Campaign. By attending this conference you will be able to discuss, debate and vote on motions, developing personally with other campaigners. You will elect the political leadership for the year ahead, this is a politically autonomous part of NUS UK.

NUS UK Women Students’ Conference – 5th April until 7th April 2016

The NUS UK Women Students’ Conference aims to bring together delegates who are passionate about representing women within higher education. You will be able to develop personal skills in a team of like-minded people as you discuss, debate and vote on motions. You will also be able to vote to elect the political leadership for the year ahead.

NUS Black Students’ Conference – 28th May until 29th May 2016

At the NUS Black Students’ Conference you will discuss, debate and vote on motions regarding Black Students. The main aim of this conference is to elect the political leadership for the year ahead, this is a politically autonomous part of NUS UK.

The term ‘Black’ is used to refer to African, Arab, Asian and Caribbean students and those who self-define as Black.

This Conference brings together delegates from students' unions affiliated to NUS UK. At the conferences you can make a difference and develop personally in a team of people who are passionate about improving student experience for Black students.

Anti-Racism, Anti-Fascism Conference - 10th March 2016

This conference aims to tackle the issues of racism and fascism within higher education, as a part of the conference you will be able to debate and discuss these issues. You will have your say and be able vote on motions and elect the political leadership for the year ahead.

Wednesday 10-02-2016 – 9am to 5pm.
