The LiverpoolSU annual Rate Your Landlord Survey is about to open for business for 2015! On Wednesday Dan Cole, Vice President Community Engagement hosted a launch event where he welcomed hall managers, landlords and private sector lettings agents to talk through this year’s survey and ask for support promoting it to students.

Ed Naylor, Accommodation Manager for LJMU also spoke at the event to give the University’s continued support for this Liverpool-wide survey that’s entering its fifth year. He highlighted how the survey had grown over the years. Students from all Universities in the City are keener and keener to have their say about the quality of their accommodation and landlords equally keen to be recognised by being shortlisted or winning awards when results are announced in May.

The event also saw announcement of Premier Properties as winners of the new Improvement Impact Award. After the 2014 survey, accommodation providers were asked to submit action plans to describe what improvements they would be making for student residents. After reviewing evidence the selection panel unanimously decided that the award criteria had been best met by Premier Properties. Dan Cole, Vice President Community Engagement said;

‘Students might have already seen Rate Your Landlord survey publicity in halls or on our Students’ Union screens around campus. The survey opens this Monday and allows students to anonymously rate their accommodation – good or bad – with us then compiling the results and giving feedback directly to the landlords, letting agents and halls management teams. We also publish full results on our website in the summer, allowing students to use these to make an informed choice about which accommodation to choose to live in the following year.'

'We know from previous years that students really value having a way to speak about their accommodation like this; although I’m sure some will fill out the survey just to try and win one of the £100 prizes on offer! If you share accommodation with friends from other Uni's then please encourage them to fill out the survey too. It only takes 5 minutes and the more responses we get the more landlords will listen.'
