We are incredibly excited to announce that, following student feedback, your Students’ Union have worked with LJMU to introduce microwaves in social spaces across campus and £20 printing credits for all postgraduate students. These improvements have come about from you telling us what you wanted to see, and your elected student officers working with the university over time to make these changes happen.
You told us that it is too expensive to buy food every day, and that microwaves would help to save money, add variety to your own lunches and make everyday life on campus much easier. Yasmin Ibrahim, your current President, has carried on the work of the last two Presidents in improving the spaces available to students to chill out on campus.
We are very excited to announce that, after working with the university, they have listened and placed microwaves for students in social spaces in the Redmonds Building (for the Mount Pleasant campus), Tithebarn Street, IM Marsh and Byrom Street. We have already received very positive comments on this change:
We’re also really excited to announce that we’ve secured printing credits for post-graduate students. Where previously only undergraduate students would receive printing credits, postgraduate students will now receive £20 each.
This is a significant win for postgraduate students and is the product of a long process of working with the university to demonstrate the need for this change, led by your Vice President Academic Quality, Angelina Cliff. There is no set date for launch yet, but it is has been officially confirmed by LJMU. We’ll let you know when we know this will be introduced.
We’re delighted to have lobbied on your behalf to help bring these changes about. We’re confident that they’ll make a real difference in the everyday life of LJMU students.
