Walking home late at night

Monday 17-11-2014 - 23:42

Liverpool is one of the safest cities to live in the UK, however unfortunate events do happen on a very rare occasion.

Here at LiverpoolSU when walking home late at night we'd advise the following:

  • Never walk home alone. Always ensure that you are in groups.
  • If you can, use our safe taxi service as this is a safe and quick way of getting home.
  • Avoid taking risky shortcuts through alleys, parks or wasteland. Stick to well-lit paved areas.
  • Try to stick to areas with CCTV.
  • Wearing earphones and flashing your mobile phone can appear attractive to opportunistic thieves, so try not to use them.
  • Always carry a personal alarm.
  • Register your mobile phone IMEI number with Immobilise, the UK national property register.

If you find that you do become a victim of crime we'd insist that you call 999 immediately and try to remain calm. If you live in halls of residence or with friends, let them and LJMU Student Advice and Wellbeing know so that they are aware and ensure that you are okay.
