What’s On in Liverpool This December?

Tuesday 26-11-2024 - 16:37

With the weather getting colder and the drinks getting hotter, December (aka the best month of the year) is the perfect time to be in Liverpool. An array of events are happening all over the city; whether you want to boogie under the missile toe or indulge in some festive treats with friends, there is bound to be something for everyone. Here our LJMU’s top picks!

Love Actually in Concert – Liverpool Philharmonic– 2nd December
Yes, you read that right! One of the world’s most loved Christmas films is coming to the stage with a live orchestra. Get out of the cold and grab your friends for a movie night like no other. As the film plays out on screen, the Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra plays every note of the amazing score for you to enjoy as you loathe Alan Rickman for what he did to Emma Thompson (still not over it!!!). Will definitely be adding this one to the list! Get tickets here: Love Actually In Concert

The Scouse Red Riding Hood – Royal Court Theatre – until 25th January
Now this Panto is unlike one you’ve seen before! If you are in need of a good laugh, the Royal Court Theatre is putting a scouse twist on a classic fairytale. Bound to have you crying with laughter, this scouse panto is definitely not for children so leave your young’uns at home! If you love Liverpool as much as we do this is the perfect way to really embrace scouse culture. I mean what’s more scouse than a granny screaming “I’ll pull your ears and smash your head then the lad with the axe is going to make you dead.” It’s on our list; OH YES, IT IS!

Christmas markets – St Georges Hall – until 24th December
Now, it wouldn’t be a What’s On list without this staple December activity. Primped out to the max, the Christmas markets are the best way to get into the holiday spirit. Indulge in a big bag of pic n’ mix or a hog roast balm or cross some gifts off your list with the countless local businesses and crafts stalls. Once you’ve walked around and potentially taken a trip on the wheel, take a seat (or standing barrel) for a Bailey’s hot chocolate (or something a bit stronger if you fancy!).

Albert schloss – Liverpool Bold Street – until new year’s
Ready to sparkle on a night out with friends? Didn’t manage to go on that ski holiday but want to feel the vibes? Well, Albert Schloss is the perfect place for a night out in December, with performers every weekend and a festive menu to die for (hello, truffle and mushroom pasta) this place is in its prime in December! Their Alpine themed décor really makes you feel like you’re sheltering inside from the cold (and with this weather, we really are).
