If you have an eye for detail, and enjoy working alongside a diverse range of people, the Data Protection Administrator liaises with members of the Team to make sure that all personal data is stored according to the Data Protection Policy and generally oversees that the group’s records are kept correctly and securely. 

The Data Protection Administrator is a key role and will ensure that the group is compliant with the Data Protection Policy and volunteers are aware of and receive annual refresher training in Data Protection. 

It is an excellent opportunity to gain experience and confidence in adhering to the Data Protection Policies and procedures and managing personal data.

Key to this is an open attitude that encourages two-way communication and willingness to ask for ands offer support to the Team. A non-judgemental attitude and respect for others, with a commitment to equality and diversity, so that you can make everyone feel valued and included.
 

Volunteering is an average of 3 hours per month.

Key responsibilities

• To ensure the group is operating in compliance with Read Easy Data Protection Policy and legislation; • to work with the group to determine the purposes and way, any personal data is processed and stored; • to deal with data protection queries in accordance with the policy; • to alert the Management Team to the potential benefits of registering the group with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO); • maintaining an audit of personal data to ensure accuracy of records held; • ensuring all volunteers are aware of the Data Protection Policy and receive annual refresher training; • attend regular management team meetings.
