Volunteers make an enormous contribution to our work at Change Grow Live.

 

Last year over 1400 volunteers donated over a quarter of million hours of their time to our organisation.

 

Responsibilities

Purpose of role:

 

Our mission is to help people change the direction of their lives, grow as individuals, and live life to its full potential.

We provide support and treatment to anyone over the age of 18 who are experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol. We also give advice and information to young adults, family members and loved ones who may be affected by or worried about someone else's drug and alcohol use.

As a Young Adults Outreach Volunteer, you will work closely with the team to support young adults who are experiencing problems with drugs and alcohol.  

 

You will play a pivotal role within the local community promoting the service and offering support and advice in a caring non-judgemental approach. Your role will involve supporting with the planning, preparation, and delivery of group sessions to young adults, in a variety of settings which will focus on the prevention and education around drugs and alcohol.

 

No two days are the same and you can really make a difference in helping to keep people safe. You will be provided with all the skills, training, and support to undertake the role. Supporting young adults is really rewarding and you can make a real difference to somebody’s life. This is the perfect role?for a sociable and outgoing person who wants to help their community.

 

Volunteering at Change Grow Live

 

  • Volunteers contribute to Change Grow Live in a variety of ways. From Admin Volunteers to Service User Reps, from Peer Mentors to Healthcare Support Volunteers, from Independent Visitors to Community Mentors each volunteer brings a unique set of skills and talents. We are incredibly grateful for all that volunteers do to support our service users.
  • If there isn’t a specific volunteering role listed for the service in your area, or have a skill you would like to donate to us you can use this listing to express your interest
  • Most of our volunteer opportunities don’t need any special qualifications. We’ll make sure you get all the training and support you need. All we ask is that you're kind, open-minded and passionate about supporting people.
  • Everyone is welcome at Change Grow Live. As a volunteer you will be treated with respect and accepted for who you are. You don’t need to have personal experience of drug and alcohol recovery to get involved

 

Key Activities:

  • Build positive relationships with the young adults we support
  • Support in providing confidential, easily accessible and non-judgmental advice around substance misuse to the people we support and their families in the community and ‘drop in’ sessions
  • Assist in the promotion of the service to young adults, their families and partner agencies and other professionals
  • Support in the preparation and delivery of outreach groupwork and training sessions
  • Update case management systems
  • Raise concerns you are experiencing or that you have about others with staff as required (e.g. safeguarding)
  • There may be opportunities to support with updating our social media platforms, e.g. Facebook, by posting information and images
  • There may be opportunities to support in delivering Drug and Alcohol Awareness Training and Current and Emerging Trends in Young People’s Substance Misuse Training to professionals, e.g. foster carers, school teachers, wellbeing and LQBT+ services

 

 

General terms of reference:

  • In carrying out the above duties the post holder will:
  • To help Change Grow Live fulfil its role in offering the best service to our clients.
  • To perform your volunteering role to the best of your ability.
  • To follow the Change Grow Live’s procedures and standards, including health and safety and equal opportunities, in relation to our staff, volunteers and clients.
  • To maintain the confidential information of Change Grow Live and of our clients; adhering to Change Grow Live’s policies and procedures
  • To meet the time commitments and standards which have been mutually agreed and to give reasonable notice so other arrangements can be made when this is not possible.

 

 

Please note that we require you to be 18 years of age or older to be considered for this volunteering role.
