Academic achievement

Who are they

The Academic Achievement team are there to provide advice of studying at university including how to write assignments and how to achieve good grades in assessments.

What they provide

Classes- The team provide a range of classes to help support your studies here at university. These include classes on: assignment planning, note-taking, critical analysis & academic writing, using maths & statistics in assignment and hoe to research & write up your dissertation 

Drop ins- There are weekly drop-in sessions both at SLB and Avril Robarts Library which are perfect for quick queries or advice on assignment prep and writing- the tutors can spend up to 30 minutes with you. Link to drop in sessions

Appointment- You can also book a personalised appointment with one of the team for support on academic skills e.g. assignment writing & critical thinking or Maths & stats e.g. data/statistical analysis. These appointments last for around 1 hour. Link to book an appointment

Referencing support

Update on referencing- Harvard Cite Them Right has now replaced the previous Harvard LJMU style, however support for Harvard LJMU will continue for any students who expect to complete their studies by September 2025!

An online resource Cite Them Right is available to support you with referencing including those who use Harvard, OSCOLA and APA. It includes online tutorials and a ‘You try’ function to practice your style.
