My priorities

  1. Improve monitoring. Safeguard student wellbeing, prevent inappropriate behaviour going unchecked.

  2. Promoting the standard of staff attentiveness to student mental health.

  3. Championing student voice, the mental health services, and global opportunities.

Hi

My name is Jono, I’m studying Level 6 Fine Art.

My interests are art, fitness and wellness. I have a clear minded stance matched with respect, conscientiousness and emotional intelligence. I believe in making the most of everything you have, whether that’s opportunities, health or relationships. I’ve obtained experience from studying abroad in Germany, to being student rep.

If I became VP of Community and wellbeing, I would prioritise building a space that is fair and just to students of all orientations, genders and cultural backgrounds, while an empowering, compassionate and inclusive setting for all students, vulnerable, LGBTQ+ and under the disability umbrella. I’d like to strengthen community and quality in the University, finding ways to make students feel free to ask for advice or assistance no matter how small. Safeguarding student wellbeing is paramount, we should do more to reassure students they have allies on campus, I would tackle this through promoting the standard of staff being attentive to student mental health.

I would plan on improving monitoring within the university and its societies, to prevent toxic, inappropriate or unwanted behaviour going unchecked, and boost awareness. University must feel like a safe environment for everyone unconditionally, this is standard. My hopes are that this can be built upon.

I will focus on championing student voice, the mental health services and global opportunities, I see this as achievable through talking, social media, networking and events that grant it a more fleshed-out presence.

Please vote for me :) fingers crossed.
