My priorities

  1. Student- Worker solidarity, Support trade unionists in struggle

  2. Cancel student debt, fight for free education

  3. Create an activist academy. For a political campaigning JMSU.

I am a mature MA Modern History student. I am standing in this election to provide students with an unapologetic socialist alternative.

The cost-of-living crisis is nothing more than a periodic crisis of capitalism. Poverty, hardship, inequality and violence are hard wired into the drive for profits. The only concessions that people have wrung from the capitalist class have been achieved via struggle. Every right, and every improvement was won because ordinary people stood up and fought for them.

The magic money tree is always there to provide funds for endless wars, why can’t it be there to give people a secure future. Politicians do not respond to polite words and pleading they only respond to maximum pressure. That is why the maximum unity is necessary with all other progressive forces is needed to ensure that we get something from the system.

I will use the platform of being a SU officer to advocate for fundamental system change.  We need to harness the power of our 27,000 members by linking the SU to other progressive campaigning organisations.

If elected I will:

  • Establish an activist academy to train students in campaigning and negotiation skills
  • Campaigning for free education and cancelling student debt
  • Work with trade unions to promote employment rights

Experience

  • JMSU mature students community leader
  • Patient rep on local NHS board
  • Former Student Union staff member at Liverpool Hope
  • Local councillor
  • Trade union representative.

THE ONLY TIME WORKING PEOPLE HAVE CONTROL OF THEIR OWN DESTINY IN WHERE THEIR IN STRUGGLE
