My priorities

  1. New Lecture Platform - attend lectures from outside of your course.

  2. Up-to-date Intersectional Reading Lists - from any course, for any student.

  3. Bibliotherapy - Weekly sessions to support mental health and academic success.

Breadth of Study

My No. 1 priority is to create a platform for students where they can access other lectures from across the university which are outside of their degree speciality, obtaining extra credit for doing so. This will help to tackle concerns I have heard as a course representative regarding student engagement, increasing the potential 'value for money' of degrees, assist development of adjacent interests, and bolster CVs.

Intersectional Reading Lists

It is important that our curriculums are not echo-chambers that remain unchanged and unrepresentative. LJMU lecturers owe it to students to be innovative with curriculums and to represent a breadth of perspectives in their respective fields. I intend to work alongside library services and academic staff across all faculties to ensure the development of intersectional reading lists. These shall be open and accessible for all students to help enrich the academic experience and decolonise the curriculum further.

Academic Success & Bibliotherapy

Our wider reading skills and mental health affect our academic potential. Bibliotherapy and making the most of academic support facilitates a positive relationship with academia. As a JMSU student staff member and LitSoc VP, leading events and meeting students is something I love. As a result, I will prioritise personal engagement with students through Bibliotherapy sessions and being present across campus. Through this I aim to help foster positive relationships between students and their studies.
