Increase Income for clubs- Increasing sponsorship/ fundraising to give members more value for membership
LJMU Collaborate- Encourage integration between sports and societies, increasing sense of belonging
Mental Health First Aid- Offer MHFA training to support physical first-aid.
Hi, my name is Josh Darley. I am running for the position of VP Activities.
If elected I would aim to:
- Objective 1 - Help sports/societies increase sponsorship to give them financial freedom and give their members more for their money
- Objective 2 – Increase integration of student groups by encouraging taster sessions and other events where clubs can try another activity, making friends in the process
- Objective 3 – Get Mental Health first aid training on the same level as physical first aid
Who am I and Why do I think I can do this?
LJMU Cricket President
Co-Founder of LJMU Running Club
JMSU Student Staff + Events Admin. Helping Organise Sports Ball and Varsity.
I have experience in finding sponsorships and liaising with external companies for a range of events. Raising over £13,000 in the last few years as part of sport teams.
Starting a running club has helped me interact with a wide range of sports and societies seeing first-hand the benefit of clubs/people coming together.
Mental illness is probably more common than physical today’s world. The importance helping our members is massive.
My dissertation is looking at sense of belonging within LJMU. I will use my findings to see how we can help LJMU students feel part of the community.
I think these aims will have a positive impact on student’s confidence, mental health ultimately making them more rounded people ready to take on the world.
